Frequently Asked Questions
We want to provide answers to the most commonly asked questions. This information is provided strictly as a service to the general community and is not intended to replace professional advice. We encourage you to consult with your own physician regarding your specific medical condition.
How can I reach my physician if I have any emergency at night or on weekends?
Call our regular phone number – (772) 219-1080 or (800) 666-1667 – your call will be connected to our 24-hour answering service. There is always a physician on-call to handle urgent matters for our pregnant patients and patients who have recently had surgery. We do not refill medicines after hours.
I am pregnant. Is it necessary for me to see all of the physicians during my pregnancy?
No, you may choose one obstetrician to provide most of your prenatal care. When you deliver, the physician or midwife on-call will take care of you, unless you have made other arrangements with your primary obstetrician or midwife.
I just starting taking birth control pills and I’m bleeding before its time for my period. Why is this happening?
It can take up to three menstrual cycles of new oral contraceptives for your cycles to regulate. It is important that you continue taking the pills and use a back-up method of birth control while you are bleeding. Keep track of where in the pill package you are bleeding so that if the problem continues, your physician knows how to adjust your medication for you.
Is it normal to have break through bleeding when you first start on hormone replacement therapy?
Yes, break through bleeding can occur anywhere from 3 to 6 months after initiating treatment with hormone replacement therapy. It takes time for your body to adjust to the level of hormones in the pills. If you experience heavy menstrual period-like bleeding you should notify your physician. Always call with any questions or concerns regarding your health.
What should I do if I am taking birth control pills and I don’t get my period?
If you have not missed taking any birth control pills, take a home pregnancy test. If the test is negative, resume taking your birth control pills with the next package. If you do not have a period the next month, consult your physician for a possible change in prescription.
Will you submit a claim to my insurance company if you are not participating providers with my insurance company?
Yes, we will be happy to. Depending on your insurance, you will be asked to pay for a portion or all of your services at the time of your visit. We will submit a claim to your insurance company on your behalf. They will reimburse you based on your specific benefit levels.
I have had diagnostic and/or lab tests performed at Women’s Health Specialists. When will I receive the results of these tests?
Due to the nature of the testing, result reporting times will vary. Please know that the results will be conveyed to you as soon as we receive the results and your physician or midwife has reviewed the results. Sometimes, according to the test type and if the results are normal, we will not notify you of the results. Please do not be concerned about this. We order our lab tests and diagnostic testing through our electronic medical records system and verify constantly that all results are returned to our facility. The system is structured to prevent results from being “lost” or misplaced.

How much time do treatments require?
Many procedures take approximately 20 to 30 minutes.
Are laser treatments painful?
While individual responses vary, most patients experience minimal discomfort during a procedure. A topical anesthetic is available to make treatments more comfortable.
How long will it be before I can resume normal activities?
There is no down time. You may resume normal activities or return to work following treatment. There may be slight redness for a few hours. With age spot removal, spots will turn dark before disappearing in one to two weeks. In the interim, it is safe to wear make-up or concealers.
Is the procedure safe?
On-site physician supervision provides a level of quality and safety that most laser centers cannot provide, at no additional cost. Prescriptions can be provided if needed.
How much do laser treatments cost?
Prices vary, depending upon the type of procedure and size of the area. Many procedures, such as skin tightening, cost a fraction of plastic surgery.
