How To Achieve Powerful Beauty
As the Director of Aesthetic Services for JeuneNu Aesthetic Beauty and Laser Center, my career daily places me right in the middle of the latest and greatest beautifying techniques utilized by women to improve their appearance. I see women of all ages, from an 11 year old girl who is mortified by her "uni-brow", to a 30-something year old desiring about plump lips and full cheeks, to the aging baby-boomer who is concerned about anti-aging. I have observed nearly all women are a little insecure about how they look. Interestingly, the most beautiful women I have ever seen are not products of the plastic surgery industry. They are women of confidence with a true inner beauty that shines through their eyes and into others' hearts. This inner beauty is amazingly powerful.
So how does one achieve this powerful beauty? Perhaps the key is to omit the word "achieve". Women too often feel pressured to achieve. It is stress and over commitment which drains the most beautiful woman of her natural confidence. My suggestion to my clients is to simply STOP. Stop trying so hard. Stop, and smell the roses. Stop having unrealistic expectations and Stop trying to please others. Instead, rest in who you are as an outstanding human being, unique among all, and truly beautiful, just because you are YOU.

Times are Changing
Times are changing. Our bodies are aging. Money is tighter and our skin seems looser. People are making difficult decisions on how to budget their money. In an unstable financial climate, perhaps one of the best investments one can make is in self improvement. Health maintenance and image are key issues. Here's what I am hearing from my clients.
Anne is a 67 year old native Floridian who says, "I've decided to take better care of my skin. I don't want to spend a fortune on resurfacing or a face lift. I just want these brown spots treated and I want some 'green' beauty products that are easy to use. Can you help me? How much does it cost?”
Barbara, 48 year old professional, says, "I'm in sales and I need to look the best that I can. I am concerned that my smile lines and the crow’s feet around my eyes detract from my appearance. What can I do to minimize them? I've read about Botox, but I am reluctant to try it. Is laser light therapy a feasible alternative?"
Laura is a 3rd year college student. She says, "Hey, I'm very money conscious. I've projected that over the course of my lifetime, I would actually end up spending more on shaving and waxing than I would if I had laser hair removal. Where do I sign up? How much does it cost?"
The consistent line I am hearing from all of my clients, both new and returning is, "How much does it cost?" Only a year ago, the question was usually asked as an afterthought, at the end of our interview. Now it is one of the first questions asked.
People are concerned about the economy. Rightfully so. Even people fortunate enough to have a fairly stable financial situation want to spend their dollars wisely.
Here's my viewpoint. Beauty maintenance and self improvement is a tremendous benefit to you. Keeping your skin healthy and improving your appearance will affect your sense of well-being and your confidence, and often garner positive comments from others that enhances their impression about you. These are intangibles that help us cope in difficult times in a safe and beneficial way.
Call me and we'll talk about these valuable things in life.

Lisa Sherrell's Favorites
As a professional in the skin care business over the past 20 years I’m often asked about my favorite skin care products. I’m at a point where anti-aging and preventative care are my main concerns. I believe that prevention is best started early. One of the first lines of defense is daily use of sun protection. My top pick for this is our Replenishing Sunblock SPF 36 Light Moisture Antioxidant. This multi-tasking product is a light moisturizer that has botanical antioxidants to aid in repair of damaged cells and prevent future damage. This sunblock also has micronized zinc oxide, and natural and invisible film that blocks damaging UVA/UVB sunrays.
Two of my favorite anti-aging ingredients are retinols and AHA acids. There are many products available that have these ingredients, but most over the counter (OTC) products do not have a high percentage of these active ingredients to have much effect. Our Ultra Firming Marine Crème promotes skin smoothness, increases skin firmness, and decreases the appearance of fine lines. The key ingredients include glycolic acid, which lightly exfoliates and refines pores; Indian gooseberry, which firms and tightens skin; and Hawaiian algae peptides, which are derived from sea algae extract and proven to increase collagen production.
Retinol Drops is a silky-smooth rejuvenating product 70 times more effective than OTC retinols, designed to be non-irritating and well tolerated. Retinol Drops improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles; fades age spots; helps with acne; and smoothes skin texture. The key ingredients are retinol, a user-friendly form of vitamin A; sphingolipids; and cyclamethicone, a moisturizer that imparts a silky feel on the skin and minimizes irritation.
Choosing the best product for yourself can be difficult at best with all the amazing claims and pretty packages of the dozens of products available in the marketplace, but I hope the above information helps you in your quest. Give Yourself a Gift
I was surprised to see Christmas decorations in many stores BEFORE Halloween, this year! I guess it is not too early to "make a list and check it twice". Advertisers must have accomplished their goal, because I started to feel a rising panic regarding what I should give and to whom over the holidays. Being a chronic list-maker, I sat down with a steaming cup of Latte, my day-planner and a shoebox of last year's Christmas cards.
I started my list with the obligatory relatives first, followed by friend, co-workers, and service personnel, such as hairdresser, newspaper carrier, nail technician, etc.
Wait a minute, I thought. Is is OK to put myself on the list? Maybe it is a good idea to give myself something that will refresh and energize me.
I have read one of the best gifts you can give to your family is a healthy and contented YOU.
I decided to add my own name at the top of the list. I realized I need to be the best I can to accomplish all the responsibilities I have to others.
First on my list is refreshing facial with my own co-worker and friend, Lisa. She gives the most delicious facials that help my skin breathe and look its best.
After her treatments, my skin has a healthy glow that others actually notice and comment on.
Hmmm. I began to feel revived just anticipating a beauty treatment. Maybe I should let my secret be known to others planning their busy holiday season. Why not have a facial? Or even better, have those age spots treated before attending this year’s holiday parties. Call me at 419-4836 for a free consultation to discuss your gift for yourself this holiday season.

Beauty From the Inside Out
Many women remember words from mothers or grandmothers such as:
"Beauty is as Beauty Does"
or
"Beauty is in the eye of the Beholder"
Beauty is indeed a perception and radiates from inner confidence.
One of the things that make children so beautiful is their unabashed acceptance of themselves.
Recenlty, I was running errands with two of my grandchildren, 5 and 10 year old boys. The 10 year old had to telephone his Dad. As he hung up my cell phone, he said the usual, "Love ya Dad."
From the the five year old in the back seat came: "You said 'love ya' to a boy!"
"Sure I did. You're supposed to say 'I love you' to somebody you love, no matter who they are," the wise ten year old explained to his little brother.
The little one pondered this thought for a minute and then proclaimed: "I love you, I love you, I love you."
"Who are you talking to?" questioned big brother, who wasn't use to such messages from his sibling.
"I said it to myself!" he declared with a glowing smile on his face.
When is the last time one of us said, much less even thought, "I love you", to yourself?
Its not egotistical or self centered. Loving oneself actually allows a person to love others unselfishly. That pure inner confidence it what makes real beauty shine forth.
So, after you have stood in front of your mirror and said "I love you" and tried to mean it, contact me at Women's Health Specialists to talk about what we can do for outer beauty at our WHS Beauty Center. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
